  • Your First Visit

    All new clients must register their details in the hospital during office hours. This allows us to obtain a complete clinical history.

    • We work by appointment to limit waiting times, we will try and accommodate walk-in appointments where possible but we recommend booking in advance.

    What to Expect when You Arrive:

    Cat owners – Cats must be in carriers at all times.

    • Once you arrive at the reception desk, the receptionist will check you in.
    • The computer system will alert the vet that you have arrived.
    • The receptionist will direct you to the cat only waiting area.
    • It is advisable to bring a towel or light blanket to cover the carrier and place the carrier on the seat beside you or on the stand provided.
    • You will be called in to one of our two consult rooms when it is your turn.

    Dog owners – Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.  

    • Once you arrive at the reception desk, the receptionist will check you in.
    • You will be asked to weigh your dog on the scales beside the front door.
    • The computer system will alert the vet that you have arrived.
    • You will be asked to take a seat in the dog waiting area closest to the reception desk.
    • All restricted dog breeds need to be muzzled.
    • You will be called in to one of our two consult rooms when it is your turn.

    The vet will ask you the reason for the visit, she will listen and ask questions so they can understand your concerns. Please answer these as best you can.

    They will perform a physical examination of your pet – checking their eyes, ears, and mouth and listening to their heart – and will ask you questions about their habits and activities. If you are not comfortable holding your pet for the examination, please tell the vet at the beginning of the consult – she will ask a nurse or an assistant to restrain your pet correctly and safely.
